Hello,

I am having a lot of difficulty finding mid-range hotels in the Philippines. Most of the information I have found on the internet is for high-range and low-range or budget accomodation. I can't seem to find much in the mid-range.

I think I am planning on going to Borocay for 1 week, Palawan for 1 week and 1 week in Camiguin. But I am open to changing that if I can find the right resort.

I am looking for reputable, good quality resorts. I am willing to spend $50-$75/ night. I like to be on the beach not walking distance to the beach. I like to have a swimming pool if possible. I like tasteful decor and friendly staff.

A good example of my tastes is Bohol Tropics Resort. It is one of my favorites. Coral Cay Resort in Siquijor was also excellent.

Please help.

The only places that I remember that had a "pool" on Camiguin were:
The Ardent springs resort and it was at the hot springs and NOT on the beach.
The Camiguin beach club resort (nice pool and on the beach) but 5* pricing and only 1-2* quality.

There are only 2-3 other places on the island (that are on the beach) so your choices are limited. They also tend to be nipa huts on the beach type places.

Boracay goes high end or low end but there are places in the middle budget range (like Nigi-nigi Noo noos). Your best bet is to book something for your first night and then walk down the beach and choose one. Prices off the beach are often better than on the internet anyway. Mid range places tend to be around boat station 2.

Palawan again tends to either be high end tourist resorts or domestic priced (low end / back packer). There is never a problem finding accommodation on arrival or changing on short notice so there is no real need to pre-book from abroad.

Pool is optional.

I can find accomodations in Camigiun and Siquijor.

I am having the greatest problem in Palawan. I can't find anything mid-range. I am wondering if it is really worth it.

I also think I might go to Puerto Galera instead of Borocay.

The value of the won to the peso has dropped almost 50% in 3-4 years. Mad

Better save your won before you go to the Philippines, you'll need it.

Mid-range hotels are quickly becoming luxury hotels for us and you'll have to settle for budget hotels. Crying or Very sad
