So the hogwan I work for is really on the brink of going under. They consistently pay late, and from what I understand, the other FT has yet to receive all her pay for January. The boss has been even more overbearing and annoying the past month, causing me to miss my ride home one day because of a late, impromptu "meeting" she wanted to have with me. Another day, she talked to me through all but 10 minutes of a whole class. Needless to say, we don't get along too well and the other FT is looking for another position as well. After the owners basically told us one of us would have to be laid off if they were made to pay pension. So, now to my questions....

If I quit; what will the process be/how hard will it be to get into another position? I am not sure if my boss would support me in this matter, so that might things all the more complicated.

If the school closes...same question I suppose.

If I am fired....""

Honestly, I hope none of this happens...but not getting paid on time and not getting pension is a bit concerning. The hours are great, the apartment is great and in a great location, so I am trying to make it work out, but obviously if it closes, there is nothing I can do as everyone would be out of a job.

Thanks in advance

You'd probably have great luck using the search function, as this situation is not uncommon in Korea, nor on Dave's. Happy hunting!

My limited understanding of the issue is that one should go to immigration and demand an exit order. From there, you can simply quit your job. If your boss isn't going to help you out with a letter of release, this is what you have to do. Then, you are free to find another job and do a visa run over to Japan or something. You would be allowed to stay in Korea for 30 days.

You ended your posting essentially saying that you were just hoping to keep collecting your paycheck. The main part of your post was detailing the things that were starting to begin that could brig about the demise of you receiving it.

If you quit, you can get another job.

If your school goes under, you can get another job.

If you are fired, you can get another job.

Being fired is best, quitting is worst (if you want to get a new visa). Save money, keep your things packed and wait for the shoe to drop. When it does or gets near it after payday, you sjmply move out & either go home & find a new job or fight it out with your director and end up losing overall.

Your choice.
