I just signed on for another year with EPIK and I'm moving from the countryside to a city. The education office told me that I may have to teach at three big elementary schools. This seems strange to me since it seems like these schools are big enough to warrant one NET for each school.

This past year in the countryside I was spread out among four small schools. I think I was spread too thin to be effective. It's probably going to be worse at these city schools with hundreds of students.

Has anyone been in this situation before? What did your daily/weekly/monthly schedule look like? Did they have you focus on any specific grade levels? Did you feel like you made a difference?

It was awful.

Main school (400 students) I was scheduled to see all the middle school 1s and 2s once a week. Grade 3 was every other week. (In theory.) Not so bad.

Second school (400 students) where I went two mornings a week there was a class I only saw once, for about 20 minutes. I kind of wish I'd kept my schedule book because I kept track of everything but I tossed it when I left cause I didn't want it around... I think the record holder class at that school for most times seen in one term was seven classes or so. Several only saw me once or twice. Lots of canceled classes, lots of schedule changing.

Eesh. It makes me wonder why they do that. If it's to save money, they're really shortchanging themselves. And if they complain about the effectiveness of NETs, they've really got to take a lot of the blame.
