Well after posting my resume, I recieved an email from Canadian Connections. I was just wondering if anyone has worked with them and what your experience was. Feedback would be appreciated. |

For the umpteenmillionth time, who care's about individual recruiters?
1. Pepper ALL recruiters with your resume.
2. Have good ideas about what you want and don't want in an employer
3. Same for location
4. Same for type/age of students
5. Same for vacation and sick days
6. Same for housing -vs- housing allowance
In other words, make them all work for you. That's their job, and they're in competition with each other for your signature. This doesn't mean that you can come on with unrealistic expectations, but it does mean that you can pick and choose a bit.
Don't let any recruiter pressure you into a position; there are enough to go around, and most of them make their money by getting newbies to go where nobody else wants to go! For public school jobs, you can apply directly into the system, so screw the recruiters. Same for some of the bigger, urban institute chains.
Good luck to you. |

i've gone through canadian connection twice and thought they were really good; i was even able to ask for a specific area within the city to work and live (and got it). plus they remained in contact with me over here (and once actually flew over with a big group of us) |

I ended up using them because a job (foreign language public high school) that I had already interviewed for and wanted required me to go through the Daegu BOE, which in turn required me to go through one of five recruiters and they were the first to get back to me about the situation. (Ah, Korean taxes hard at work...)
From the experience (although not your typical job-hunting situation), I'd definitely recommend them.
I worked with Alison. I'm American. I was applying from Korea (she did not make me send her the documents, just scanned copies). |

I used them too. Actually I was referred to them by the Jeolla Education Supervisor. From my experience, they're kind and helpful but a bit slow in responding to my emails.
Good luck! |
