For those who have visited the place, but maybe haven't been there in a while you might be unaware that they are doing a major facelift. They've been working on it since about late-september. It is a completely new redesign, except for the skatepark apparently.

What troubles me is the areas beside the river. They're shown to be grassy and who knows what kind of grass that will be. That area is generally full of people in the summer eating, resting and setting off fireworks. If its grass its probably going to get fairly worn down with all the people traveling there. I've included some current shots and some shots of the concept pictures they have there. the new pool looks nice and bigger. It was really crowded last summer there.

Thank you for posting this. I live right across the river so it might be another place to check out in the Spring. I usually go to the Jamwon park. There are grassy areas there, too. I think it will be better than a bunch of concrete.

There was also an area right near the train station that a bunch of middle-age older people used for aerobics in to october. Usually about 200-300 people a night with an instructor(there was a stage) would exercise there every night, but I don't see a replacement spot for that.

Don't think so. This is near Konkuk university, #7 line.

Ah, I see. This area was wedged up against Seoul Forest and the riverside. Must be a little further upstream.

There are two places, Ttukseom and Ttukseom resort. They're not near each other. Not sure why they have the same name like that.

Maybe it's because they're both along the river and they're both on that delta thing.

They are near each other. Seoul Forest park near Ttukseom station is no more than a 10 minute bike ride on the Han to Ttukseom Resort. I just rode my bike near the contruction a few days ago. The artist's conception looked like it will include an outdoor movie screen.

They're not days apart, but there isn't a 동 called 뚝섬 that I can see, so the name itself is a bit confusing when there are two other subway stations closer. They're not nearly as close as one would guess from the similar name.

Hearing those names and not seeing a map I might guess that the ttukseom station on line 2 was almost right on top of the one on line 7, but its about 3.5 KM away. It's 2.1 to the forest then another 1.4 up to the station from there.

outdoor movie screen.

are you looking at the rock wall in the big picture of everthing?

I just noticed the big picture doesn't show the skatepark so apparently that is going to be ripped out too.

I didn't look at the pics you posted. I just saw a pic painted on the construction keep-you-out wall. It looked like there were many people sitting on stone seats/stairs with a large screen in front of them.

EDIT: I just looked at the pics you posted. When I was there I saw another pic that showed what I described. Next time I'm biking that way I'll snap a photo.

ah well I have 3 concept pictures in those pics. If there were more concept pictures I'll have to go back and have another look.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It's always interesting to see the changes going on in Seoul.

I read a couple of years ago that one of the long term plans for the Han river is to remove a lot of the concrete flood walls and attempt to restore many of the river's natural riparian features. It'll never be the same as it was naturally but the plans sound pretty promising.

they're airing a pretty lengthy video on the number 2 subway line about all the renovations, including Ttukseom. It does show them mostly restoring the river's natural banks which will be nice. They're also making some islands down towards WC stadium and going to make a marina, or whatever it's termed, for boats and yachts. The new design complex in dongdaemun is also coming along quickly.

OK, here's the picture I saw on the construction fence. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a279/rtflakfizer/Feb12009001-1.jpg

I saw the ones you posted as well, but I guess this is the one that stuck out to me. I think that's a movie screen they're all looking at, though the fireworks might distract form the movie a bit.
