OK here's the deal. I made friends with a guy in Daejeon who lives in one of the traditional homes that are turned into parks. It's called Dongchun-dang and every year they have a festival at the end of April. I haven't been before, this is my first year in Korea but I want to help them out. The festival is to educate people about his family's past and he has a strong desire to teach foreigners. So I figured I would come on here and ask questions as to activities/games and whatnot that would motivate YOU to come out (although not necessarily YOU, but people like you).
I ask because to me, wacking rice to make imjolmi, learning about all the Korean wines and stuff like that interest me, but I don't know about everyone else. They want to give out little gifts to people that come out too. It's not JUST for foreigners also, it's for all of anybody that wants to come. So throw me your ideas! |

Sounds pretty awesome.
I'd go just to hang out with the locals in a traditional homestead.
Probably join in a [NOISY] game of yutnori. |

What is yutnori?
See that's my thing, I think it sounds fun as is. I like being shows tradition things.
I was thinking about possibilities for showing how to cook traditional foods, or how to make not just imjolmi but also like tradition dduk and all it's variations. The bread dduk with the beans, the dduk with red bean paste inside, etc.. |

YUT!<--Wiki
Dduk sounds fun, but I always assumed it's some mystical process that takes weeks to make.
Kimbap is straighforward, but I'm ruined from kindergarten field trips.
EVERY kid force feeds teacher.
Depending on location, y'all could go fishing, or alternatively to a big fish market,
take home a haul of live fish and perfect the art of raw fish cleaning and slicing.
Don't let 'em skimp on the beverages. Dongdongju seems appropriate. |

I don't know if the fishing idea would work ou as there was some 45 foreigners there last year. The mayor wants over 50 this year as a goal.
imjolmi takes a long time but not TOO long.but it does involve a huge hammer (think gallager) and it's fun to get volunteers.
What kinds of gifts would be well acepted? |

Teach how to make dongdongju or makoli. Smoke those long pipes. |
