My contract is ending by the end of March and I've told my boss that I would like to stay for another year and he is happy with the idea, but we haven't gotten into any of the details yet.
For those of you who have re-signed at a school for a second year, is it common or expected for you to return home for a visit before starting your second term? And if so, would they pay for your ticket.
My only expectation for resigning for another year would be that I would be allowed to go back home for a little bit--like a week or so--before coming back for another year. And not have to pay for the ticket.
I was just wondering if this was a common expectation or if it would be considered unreasonable. |

Its common, but depending on the school. eg if your the only ft then its an unreasonable request to have a holiday home (thinking a month here)
Normally what my school does is they get a teacher to replace the ft leaving, and he or she comes back to replace the next teacher....the length of holiday however depends on when the next person leaves. |

| They usually give you two weeks but during holiday times. I signed a new contract during the term and received my extra holiday during winter break. |

| I did it at my hodwan, I negotiated it as part of re-signing, I am the only FT and went home for 2 weeks, it did leave them stretched though. |
