We're moving to Seoul. Our belongings are taken care of (moving truck), however, we have a cat.
We had planned to rent a car, but the prices are utterly ridiculous for one-way rentals.
We then attempted to find a place where we could hire a truck to do whole thing by ourselves (think Budget rent-a-truck pretty much everywhere else in the world). We've had no joy so far, but are open to options!
The only real option is to send the goods up on the truck, and take the train with the cat. Does anyone know if this is even possible on the KTX or a slower train?

| They do have a luggage spot inbetween cars on KTX. I`ve never seen it used before so I suppose you could put kitty there. |

I can't imagine anyone stopping you from taking a cat on the train.
I took two cats on the subway from Seoul to Anyang once. They were both very quiet and seemed kind of impressed with the train, moreso than a taxi, and everyone who noticed them thought they were cute. |

| Hey, it's absolutely no problem on the KTX. As long as they're in a cage, you can just put them on your lap/under your seat/at the end of each cart by the door. Lots of people transport their pets on the KTX, and I know more than a few wee dogs who have been allowed just to sit on your lap (mine included). Wouldn't recommend that with your cat, though, obviously. Anyway, they're very accommodating, so it shouldn't be a problem at all. |

| I agree that she'll be fine on the train in a carrier, even if she's loud. You might be hassled on the bus, but on the train I always take my dog out of the carrier as soon as we sit down and no one's even looked askance. |

That's great news, thanks all!
He HATES to travel (crazy noisy about it too), so we'll be making a little trip to the vet to sort him out first!

| KTX is pretty smooth. Saemaul and Mugunghwa can be noiser from less noise vibration deck plating. A good sedative works well too I guess. |

Just to help assuage any lingering doubt...
I've seen several people carry cats on the KTX. Just like Sineface said.
It's no problem.
PS. I love cats. Please turn them upside and drop them to see if they land on their feet. It's fun. My old cats didn't go near me after that though. |

| I have taken my dog on the train many times. I put him in his small carrier. I will take him out and let him on my lap if it isn't overly crowded. I have never gotten so much as a word about it. |

| I'm planning on taking the train from Seoul to Gwangju and I'm taking back a dog with me thats a chow/jindo mix so it wont exactly be a lap dog. As long as he's in a kennel is that ok? Is there space for such a large kennel? |

I suggest the baggage compartment space inbetween certain cars. I dont think his kennel can fit in the luggage space above the seats. |

| At the end of the trains, there is a place to put luggage. He should fit in there just fine. |

| I've taken a cat from Seoul to Daegu on the KTX. A few people seemed a bit afraid and looked at me like I had a tarantula in a glass jar or something, but otherwise it was fine. |

Quite right, it's been done many times before.

Christ on a bike. Should I refrain from eating nuts in the same train as someone who's allergic; from breathing in the same train as those with dust allergies? |
