A good friend of mine (a former student) is married to an elementary school teacher who was disappointed to hear that the foreign teacher she was supposed to work with decided not to come to Korea afterall. Is this happening in other places as well?
Also, any solid teachers out there interested in a six month contract? |

6 month contract where and teaching who for how long?
are you looking for an F-2, an illegal pot smoking canadian or will the school sponsor a legal E-2 for 6 months?
I'm an F-2 interested if the money is right.
I know some illegals who are interested in any job.
And, I know some 'solid' E-2s with contracts about to expire who will do a 6 month gig if it's in the right spot.
be specific... |

Sure...
You've got a horrible won rate, and North Korea threatening again (may not matter to us here much, but overseas it sounds more menacing).
Recruiters and the gov't, despite trying their best to convince everyone that everything is just peahchy, are getting an ass-whoopin' in reality. Articles about this are finally starting to come out (see the one about teachers wages going up). |

| It happened at my school at the last minute. Now I'm stuck teaching far more hours than I'd like. |

Don't forget inflation. Is it me, or have prices gone up here at least 20% over the past year? Forget the press....Word-of-mouth is making liars out of some Korean recruiters. But I predicted this about six months ago. The final Sunday before the spring semester begins is fast approaching. Most natives here won't acknowledge any problem exists until 9 pm that final Sunday. There will be plenty of overwork for some come next month. Have fun. I'll be relaxing on a warm beach. Maybe working somewhere that pays better and has much better weather.
Screw Korea and its crashing won/increasing prices/face BS/15-dollar melons. It'll be nice to eat some fresh fruit again. |
