Anyone know if a background check can be done in another state if my mailing address is in another? I recently moved (1 week ago). I was gong get a background check from my old state.

You wouldn't have a problem actually getting the background check done.

The question would be whether immigration and/or your consulate would accept it. If you lived there for a while I would think it would be valid.

I don't know if the consulate wants a background check done from within their jurisdiction...

I've heard of people getting them done in different states to keep some offenses from showing up and it worked for them.

I've also heard of people getting them done from overseas. So I don't think you're current residence matters.

Also a lot of people applying are probably college students that have relocated once or twice.
