So after leaving korea "unofficially" for personal reasons I'm wondering if it's possible to come back.
My E-2 visa was due to expire 22nd of march and is still active although seeing as I'm not there anymore I would imagine it has been black listed/cancelled/marked etc.
Will it be possible to come back to korea in april considering my situation? Is there such thing as a black list? Do I have to stay away for a year? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

You can come back now - did you run from a PS or a hagwon? That could be a factor. |

You can call Korean Immigration and ask about your status to see if your visa has been cancelled. If yes, you can find a new job, no problem. If no, then you have to wait until March to legally work in South Korea.
BTW, what was the name of the hagwon? |

I heard you the first time.

Uh, maybe because if it's a bad place to work I'd like to avoid it and maybe others would like to avoid it, too? |

If you fancy the PS route then running from a crappy hagwon shouldn't be a stumbling block. Get in touch with worknplay who sorted out my problem which sounds similar to yours.
In regards about naming the hagwon - why on earth not? If they were bad employers - don't be shy about naming and shaming them. |

I wouldn't have a problem naming/shaming a bad employer, but if I left "for personal reasons" (i.e. I believe that my commitment to a company should be shorter and more disposable than my commitment to a mobile phone), why should I name that employer? Sheesh. I've never left an employer on bad terms. |

You should have canceled your E2 as you were leaving and given your card to the IMMI guy.
I believe you may have trouble getting a new one now. |

I'm getting worried now. I'm dealing with a new recruiter and they say that there is a risk I could be denied for five years. |

Why worry?
Move on and never look back. It'll be good for you. |

Ok I spoke to immigration in korea tonight.
They've told me that because i'm in possession of my ARC card that my visa is probably still active until 22nd of March and I can't even begin the application process until that date.
They have said that if I contact me previous employer then she can cancel it, I've tried contacting her but it seems as if they don't exist anymore or they don't want to speak to me.
I asked the help desk if they could check my visa status and apparently they can't.
So new question: Is it possible to find out the status of my visa by calling someone somewhere? There must be a big computer with all of the names and visa numbers on it somewhere. |
