|
|
1. Old employer gave contract cancellation notice to immigration.
2. New Employer and I went to immigration to apply for new visa issuance number.
3. New Employer assured me that no exit order is necessary, because 30 days is built in to the application for a new Visa Issuance Number.
4. Recruiter keeps calling and insisting that 30-day exit order is necessary, in order to have no problems when I get to Japan.
5. On the phone, immigration told me it was a separate issue, this exit order, so please come and get one at no cost to me.
6. I went, 70-80 minutes on the subway, one way.
7. Upon arrival, immigration declined to issue one, agreeing with the new employer's assessment and advising me to be sure to hand over my ARC to customs before I leave Korea.
8. Recruiter apparently coordinates every detail with employer except this one.
So, when I can't get a straight answer from the directly involved parties, I always consider the more reasonable, less convoluted method of getting my questions answered: bringing it to the good people on good ol' Dave's. Anyone have experience with this? |

| I don't know why you canceled it. A smooth transition would be to transfer locations and extend current visa. You don't need to cancel a visa or go to Japan. I don't think you need an exit order, but since you will be starting from scratch, do you have all the paperwork? |

If your ex-employer notified immigration that your contract is terminated mid-contract, it's in my understanding that immigration gives you an exit order to leave 30 days after your last teaching day at said employer. Your alien card has to be cancelled in order for you to apply for another visa.
What's the expiry date on your alien card? |

you never really need an exit order - it's just a bit of bureaucracy built into the system for lord knows what reason.
I've finished contracts, received them and not received them. it just all depends on who's doing what and when - don't worry about it - it doesn't really have anything to do with your next visa.
your recruiter just doesn't want the foreigner telling him he's wrong. |

Now this I'd never heard of. I always thought new employer, trip to Japan? When did that change? My is about 3 months old, but, since it was sponsored by the first employer, I seemed to think that it wasn't transferable. Anyway, I don't know if the visa was actually canceled, but the contract cancellation had to be reported so I the new guy could do his thing at immigration. |
