Anyone out there have experience with teaching dyslexic students? Learning disabilities are unfortunately still a rather taboo subject in Korea. Any advice and resource assistance would be appreciated. |

T-J, what is your teaching environment? Are you able to have one on one time with the student? In the North American system, teachers will work with dyslexic children in small groups for part of the day, while also allowing the children to interact in a larger classroom setting. With dyslexic children, they need to have time with a patient coach who can walk them through patiently in order to assist them. The parents need to take an active role in the child's improvement.
How serious is the dyslexia? What form of dyslexia is it? Is it evident in Korean learning as well as in English acquisition? Is it primary dyslexia or visual dyslexia? |
