Sounds to me like they're leaving out the Y. It's Hyundai, like Syunday?

Maybe if Hyundai used a recognized romanization like Hyundae (McCune-Reischauer/RR) or Hyunday (the ugly Yale version) they'd have better luck with people's pronunciation of their name.

But yeah, it's a funny ad... substituting one mispronunciation for another.

I remember back in the 80's when the first Hyundai Excels were marketed, their commercials specifically pointed out that Hyundai rhymed with Sunday.

No, in English it's Hyundai like "die", ... like it or not.

Imagine if the French tried to change how 'Paris' is said in English to try and get us to drop the 's' sound.

ABSURD.

In Korean it's 'day', in English it's 'die'.

Another example of Korean nationalistic ego at work.

Just like how Konglish is a kind of Korean (to be used when using hangul) not a kind of English (to be avoided when speaking to anybody in English) despite the belief of Koreans that it's legitimate to use words in English that no English speaker understands until they're informed by Koreans as to the meaning.

But if they wanna drop their little pants and urinate into the wind, so be it.
