The hospital DEMANDED U.S. dollars upfront?

What a bunch of fucking monkeys.

I'm quite confident that if this were to happen to someone in the same position in the West, it would somehow be taken care of.

Sometimes, I really hate Asia.........(with excpetion on Japan).

This is why you should always get travel insurance. $1 a day.

Vietnam is a poor country. It has no obligation to pay the medical bills of wealthy (comparatively) tourists who take unnecessary risks while visiting. I do not believe that limited health resources (taken from taxpayers) should be assigned to a foreigner.

My words might seem insensitive, but I was responding to this:

Those "monkeys" are very poor. They need to take care of theirs first.

That's why you pay a little more for insurance that covers 100000s of USD or even 10000000 USD.

Most insurance policies won't cover you for riding motorcycles or scooters abroad. I think some of them cover you have a valid license and stuff, but most people hiring scooters in Asia don't even have a valid licence.
