| I noticed a recruiter listing "2 copies of sealed transcripts" as a requirement for the E2 visa. My last contract was made 8 months ago and I only needed 1 copy. Anyone know what the 2 copies of sealed transcripts is about? |

Hi,
as far as I'm aware you require 2 now because one is to be sent to your employer and the other is needed for your visa application. If you look at the FCO requirements for e-2 visa they include a transcript now. |

You only need one. Your employer doesn't need one. I've heard you need 2 when applying for your first visa or when applying for a visa from your home country. I don't see why you'd need two. I only needed one when I applied for my visa in December. I was already in Korea.
WTF is FCO? |

| I sent one with my paperwork to get my number, and they said I might need another at the embassy, but I didn't. |

The insanity never ends, but, then again, they do love their red tape here. I'm going into one tenure track position from another tenure track position. STILL, they want sealed transcripts, even though I submitted published works, my dissertation, and even though I've been to conferences and even on conference planning committees with people in the department!
When in Rome, I guess. And even with an F5, I had to go in for the physical, the blood work, the whole shebang, and I had to get the FBI background check...yup, even though I had done it all before for my OTHER job. So in case E2s think they're being discriminated against, think again. In fact, Koreans have to go through it, too. |

How hard is it for the Korean Government to keep records for fark's sake!
Been here nigh on six years, Immigration have seen my degrees, transcripts countless times, along with my Apostille seal, health test. I thought the extra loops last year were supposed to be a one off. I guess not. Hardly surprised however.
These tomfoolery along with the restrictive E-2 Visa, xenophobic society, lack of professionalism and appreciation for work done; and the Korean Government still wonders why foreigners are coming over in less numbers.
So long, one less sucker to denigrate once my contract's over. |

| You do need 2. One needs to be sent with all your visa paperwork, and you need to bring one with you to your visa interview. That's the case in the U.S. anyway. At my interview, the guy was ALL about my transcripts. In fact, that's all he talked about! I'm even bringing a couple copies to Korea with me, just in case. |
