All the computers at my PS are so old and run so slowly. Mine always has multiple viruses and whenever I call the computer guy he is all cranky and just grumbles in Korean the entire time.

Now whenever I use the internet it will say "C++ run time error" and close my web page. This has happened 3 times in the last 10 minutes. What's going on??

PS. everyone in my office has flat Samsung monitors and I have a C64 style monitor that takes up half of my desk.

Mine has counterfeit English Windows that I had to make "legit". Countless viruses, spyware and registry problems that I finally cleaned up. A giant CRT monitor and only 512mb of RAM too.

Last year, I was given a laptop that was at least five years old, had no battery, and took fifteen minutes to boot up in the morning. I put an illegal copy of office on it.

If you don't like your work computer, bring in your own laptop and stop complaining. Evil or Very Mad

My school gave me a Samsung laptop.

21" screen
160GB HD
2.2Ghz dual core
Nvidia nForce graphics card

It's too powerful for what I need it for, and it's a little heavy, but I really have no complaints other than that.

They got mad at me for deleting all the Korean virus-scan / system crap that craps out the computer and makes booting difficult, but I thought it was necessary.

We have these 3.5 year old Samsung Sens laptops. I recently bought a new laptop, so I brought in mine, which is also 3 years old, but with an amd 64, 1.5gb ram, and a radeon xpress 200 vid card. With windows 7. Works like butter.

It was crap at first, then I had some old ram and and a old x800 pro shipped over from back home...now it runs like a pro for the most part.

I think we're gonna get new computers for the english classes. Hopefully they throw in a Duoback chair too...those things live up to the hype!

Guys - go with "OpenOffice"... A MUCH nicer package for all your office needs, its a free download, and a lot easier to use once you get the hang of it (easier to format, especially when it comes to tables)...

Also, if you're with SMOE (not sure about other districts) your computer is running a nasty anti-virus / firewall suite that sucks up a lot more resources than it needs to... Delete it and run something like AVG, should see some big improvements...

Finally, set up a password on your screensaver to make sure that other K-teachers arn't getting on there when you don't want them to... Every other computer in the school is infected for a reason - why would you let them on yours? lol...

I remember there used to be a way around this before XP was even out. All you had to was press Ctrl-Alt-Del and end the screensaver program. I haven't used screensavers in a while, but I'm sure that's not posssible anymore.

The computer I use right now is:

- i7 920 quad processor
- 6 gb RAM
- 300gb Raptor drive
- 8800 GTS 512mb x 2 in SLI

I'm the type that is pained whenever I have to use a slow computer.
