As noted here, a doctor who was evidently fairly notorious for abortions has been killed by an anti-abortion activist, in his own church no less.
Yet another sad example of religion-driven terrorism. |

Well. A thoroughly planned murderous attack anyway.
Why do liberals always pad statements with inflammatory keywords? |

If this turns into another free-for-all, kill'em thread, it will be removed like the one before it.

Since the author of the other thread openly stated they were happy with Dr. Tiller's death, I'm glad the original thread was deleted. It struck me as a violation of the TOS anyway. |

I really can't say I approve of late term abortions, since I've read some very graphic and upsetting descriptions, but nevertheless, the right to freedom of a woman is more sacred than the right to life of an unborn baby at any stage in the pregnancy in my view. This is a view I arrived at via critical thinking and not in enslavement to ancient scriptures |

I don't think any scriptures deny women the right to make that choice. |

Did the shooter claim to kill a church usher in a church for religious purposes? |

This is interesting, so you admit it is snuffing out one's right to exist, or in other words taking their life, but you still think a woman's choice in the matter is more important?
What science says about an unborn child:
Size: Does how big you are determine who you are?
Level of development: Are 20 year olds more human than 10 year olds because they are stronger or smarter?
Environment: Does being in a house make you less human?
Degree of dependency: Does dependence upon another determine who you are? Is someone with Alzheimer's or on kidney dialysis less of a person? Am I as an insulin-dependent diabetic less of a person than before I contracted the disease?
A little more science~Every part of a woman's body has her own specific genetic code, but at the moment of conception, the child within her belly has their own genetic code. Even their own blood type which often varies from their mother. If it was indeed her body scientifically speaking, the DNA and all parts of the unborn would perfectly align with the mothers', but they do not. Therefore, we can conclude scientifically that an unborn human is not part of their mothers' body.
Last thoughts--If you do then regard an unborn child as a life and are willing to take that life to uphold a choice, then you are in a very dangerous state of mind. I say this because running the course for this kind of thinking results in a society in which the powerful, for their own self-interest determine which human beings live and which will die. Is this the kind of world you wish to usher in?
Why not protect all human life?
Why let those in power decide such things?
Why is it a crime for a woman to take drugs like alcohol or cocaine during pregnancy, because it harms the baby, but to kill that same baby with abortion is totally legal?
Why is it ok for a mother to steal the rights of women or men in her belly? Should anyone have this kind of power to rob someone of the right to exist?
What happens when you turn old and are deemed "not useful" by society? Do you want them to tell you that for the good of society you should be done away with?
As humans we should all respect others' rights to live. If you find this by science, religion or just common sense it does not matter, but that you find value in human life and want to defend it is paramount! |

Did your critical thinking skills clue you into the fact that the murdered doctor wasn't in the "abortion on demand" business but rather was performing the procedure for the medical reasons the vast majority of the so-called pro-life groups--including religious organizations--concur with? |

I don't know if he claimed to do it, but he certainly did it. |

Yo, Fox! The question was did he claim a religious purpose for the killing, not did he claim that he killed. |

It's pretty clear that he was of the "God Hates Fags" ilk. Whatever beliefs he used, be they political or religious, were distorted to fit his own hateful worldview.
Murder can not be justified in any way. The problem with the abortion issue is that many view it as taking a defenseless life. The fundamentalist religious camp typically uses a biblical quote to the effect of "I knew you in the womb" which I personally believe could be construed in a number of ways.
I also disagree with abortion and taking the lives of anyone, but at the same time, I have to agree that as it is part of a conscious adult woman's body, it is up to her alone as an individual to decide what to do based on what she perceives the fetus/unborn child to be. It's really up to her to decide and face whatever guilt or potential after-life judgment she may face (depending on what you believe). However, a question that I htink should come up here is: What is different between someone having an abortion or self inducing an unwanted pregnancy and leaving the baby in a dumpster somewhere (a scenario that plays itself out every so often)? Why does the latter go to jail and the former get to go home and watch tv? |

As noted in your own link, it did not say that that shooter was an anti-abortion activist or had any ties to said groups. |
