So, I recently got xbox live. And the marketplace is not working (where I could download free demos, etc). Does this happen with anyone else? Is it because my ISP location does not match my credit card address?

Any ideas?

Have you paid microsoft through the nose yet? That might help. And choose the American Store.

I set up my xbox live account as being under my parents address back in the states, as thats the address for my credit card. I don't have any problems downloading free demos or anything.

@laser: Actually this is one area where Microsoft is initially losing money because they are subsidizing the services and products hoping to build a market share. And once they get a big enough market share they will be able to gradually raise the prices. They are hoping for software sales to make up for there loses in hardware and services in the long run.

@aphase: Thanks, that's what I was looking for. Although I still think it's a problem with my ISP, I guess I'll give microsoft a call...

I should add that the only time I only had an issue was when trying to download the free maps for Gears of War. For some reason your region has to match where your IP address is for that. Simplly solved by just making a free korean live silver account and downloading, and then just switch back to your regular account.

Anyways thats the only thing i've had problems with. Downloads for other games, and demos never came up with problems for me.
