|
|
Can anyone give me a heads up of good web design companies in
Korea? There are a million, but I am looking for foreign companies
or staff members who can speak English well.
I'm in the Daejeon area, but would be interested in any companies
between here to Seoul, or on the West coast.
I found a company called www.asiance.com in Soeul, but am interested
in a few quotes before deciding on who gets the contract. |

What kind of work are you trying to get done? The reason I ask is that different kinds of web professionals are usually good at different things. I'm more of a bring things to life kind of designer (they usually know what they want it to look like, and I make it appear that way). Other people are specifically designers and they can do some pretty intricate things with different idea concepts. Just beware of the jack of all trade types that just want your business so they'll pretty much say what they need to get you to sign.
And no, I'm not serving any self-promotion purposes here because I don't have time for any more clients these days. I cut back to five clients a few years ago and maintain just those these days because of the work load that can entail.
Another option is to determine if it's something you can professionally do on your own, which would save you a lot of money in the long run, and quite often the headache of having to deal with someone that just never seems to get your vision right. Programs like Hotdog and Dreamweaver are designed to do just that, and unless you need shopping carts and such, are very easy once the initial learning curve is passed. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have tried to get students at my uni to help me, but as you mentioned
they come back saying this guy specializes in this, and that guy in this,
etc. I cannot not open up my website to every tom dick and harry on
campus.
I contracted a company in the States for 2 years while I was living
there. I came here not long ago. I thought it would be simple to
continue my project. But.... The site is about 70% finished. It is a
major online travel advertiser site like www.shermanstravel.com
There are also a number of companies from India, etc. but I am looking
for someone local.
Linux base, PhP/MySQL, Databases, CSS, Dreamweaver, Photoshop,
Java, Flash... this kind of knowledge.
Interested in an established company with more than one guy
working on the site to finish it up. MUST speak English fluently as
there are complex things I need to explain.
I have looked through a number of web design companies in Seoul
but their company sites are all in Korean. i.e. Korean web design
mindset as well, and possibly some communication problems. |

trust me - you don't want a K to do your web page - else it will ONLY work in Windows and never on a Mac, and never in any other kind of browser such as firefox or opera, etc.
Linux? oh yeah, some folks here do know of it - but it's by no means all that common.
and forget any E content for spelling and/or grammatical errors.
nope, if you want a professional site, go elsewhere - anywhere else but here. |

Go to rentacoder.com and put up your request and you will get all
kinds of bids. You can put your money in escrow and it will not be
released to the person who does the job until they have given to
you what you want.

There are a bunch of sites like rentacoder.com. I like elance.com. There's also getafreelancer.com and scriptlance.com.
I've found that if you need any custom programming (PHP/MySQL) work, you have to look really closely with these bids. If you get 10 bids for a project, all but 1 or 2 will be crap so you have to do your research. This is for complex projects. For an easy project (say normal e-commerce site) where they take available software and customize a template, these sites are more than sufficient. |

I wish I had all the right info two years ago when I started building my site. My best piece of advice is to make sure that you get a programmer that has a lot of knowledge about making an SEO friendly web page. Any Tom, Dick or Harry can build a website, but very few know how to make one that will get you high on the search engines.
When building my site (www.AusESL.com), I had a lot of problems finding a decent programmer. Choose wisely mate. |
