Anyone know anything about surge protectors in korea? I need to buy one to plug in my monitor, tv, laptop (macbook from usa) and a cable set box. Can I get any one or should I be looking for a certain surge protector?
I've taken a look at them at the store but there are like different "wattage" ones? or something. Can someone help me out? |

Well, I'll tell you that the wattage on them is misleading. They may say 2000 watts on the package, for example, but if they have switches on each outlet, then those switches each handle far less than the total listed on the main big switch.
I will NEVER again buy an outlet with several small switches plus a main switch. I will only get them with a main switch. The reason is because we plugged a dishwasher into one of those things and it slowly roasted through two of those small switches over a period of several weeks. The second time it happened, it began smoldering! If I hadn't been home to smell it, we might have burned the house down.
Ask Itaewonguy about those things. He lost a house to one.
Again... just get one that has a single big switch. Don't even mess with the ones that have a small switch on each outlet. |
