I really love ska music. Does anyone know of a good club that plays ska, or some good jazz? I've been to the 'Mo Better Blues Bar' in Naksondae, and it was awesome, but more jazz focused over ska. Anyone have any favourites places to hear live music?

By the way, Ska music is a cross between reggae, jazz and sometimes has a bit of punk thrown in. It's awesome, and well worth checking out if you are unfamiliar with it.

Kingston Rudieska are a great Korean Ska band, saw them live in Hongdae late last year. Find their website and it should tell you where they're playing next. they recently released their first CD, too.

Kingston Rudieska are a great band but the last few times I've seen them they haven't seemed quite as good as I remember. Their CD was way too easy-listening for me. Another band worth checking out is Skasucks, who are sort of half ska-punk and half two-tone. Yeah, I hate ska-punk too, but given a bit more time they'll be more impressive. I can't say the same about any of the other Korean ska-punk bands, of which there are too many.

There's no such thing as a ska scene in this country, just a few loosely connected bands that orbit the punk scene. Lately I've been more obsessed with the reggae scene, which is much younger and has some very serious devotees at present.

jboney's links are a good starting point. I'll also throw in
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=2373198768
which has weekly announcements of any ska or reggae shows, usually a day or two earlier than the myspace page.

I saw the English Beat in a small bar in Bakersfield. Very sad, that. Anyway, I dig ska, I was in a really bad ska garage band in h.s.

I hate to toot my own horn, but they often miss a lot of the more underground shows that you'll find on the other links. On the other hand that site does tend to advertise more than three days into the future.

Would you mind posting some of those "other links"? I am about to move to Seoul and am very much in fear that my live music jones will go unanswered while I am there.
