I used to work in Seoul in 2006 but haven't been back since then and will be going there with a group of buddies in March. I would appreciate if you guys/gals could give me an update on the places that are good to go out to right now, as in places that you'd be impressed with if it was first time in seoul and you wanted to get a taste of the night life. Where are some good places in Apgu? I know places there are notoriously hard to find but I usually stumble (literally) upon some great places there. Are the old places in Itaewon like Geckos and the Terrace still the decent places over there? Are there any big club like places that are worth going to? When I was there in 05/06, NB in Kangnam was one of the only places that was really clubby outside of Hongdae.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. If suggestions are very good then there could be rewards paid out in beers.

Haven't heard of Helios.

Is there a publication for ex-pats that lists good places for nightlife over there?

Circle is closed for renovations. I think right now, a club called Eden is one of the hotter ones. It's located next to the Ritz Carlton Hotel (by Kyobo Tower intersection in Gangnam). Mass at Gangnam station is pretty good, too.

A lot of new clubs opened in the past couple of years but they all generally play house music.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm ok with just about any kind of music as long as the atmosphere and crowd are fun. It's good to know that area around Kangnam station got some new life. It was seeming kinda stale when I was there.
