Hi Everyone. I'm hoping some one can take a minute to help a newbie out. I'm trying to apply for 6 month or 9 month contracts in Korea and am having are hard time finding information or reviews on the few companies that are offering this.
So far the only recruiting agencies I could find advertising for a 6 month contract were Planet-People.net. I have checked a bunch of forums, google, and a few blacklists but I haven't heard anything about them. Their website looks very cheap however, and unprofessional. It has a random genie on it . .. who is apparently granting my ESL wishes
The only other 6 month ads I saw were from English Teachers Employment Connection, which as far as I can tell doesn't have a wesbite at all. Just the email of address of Kate Kwon, [email protected]
So if anyone knows anything about either one of these companies, or could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so much |

My sister and I scored ourselves 7 month contracts. We originally intended to do the whole year, however, and applied for regular year-long positions. Every school we interviewed for were for some reason eagre to have us work for them and we had about 10 or so to choose from.
When we realised that we couldn't stay past the end of August, we notified the schools that we could only commit to a 7-month contract. We proposed that they wouldn't need to pay a return airfare of severance pay, so as to make it worthwhile for them to hire us.
We got a few positive responses and chose a school who drew up a contract to meet our requirements.
I'd say you have more of a chance doing this. If you submit a good resume, have a nice looking photo, sound very pleasant on the phone, etc., schools are going to be very much interested in you and then later you can drop the bombshell that you need a shorter contract. Hopefully they had taken such a liking to you that they agree to a 6-month or 9-month contract. It's worth a shot. |
