I live in Arizona, and from what I've read on the Korean Consulate website, Los Angeles is the nearest consulate for the E2 visa process. Is it required that I go to LA, in that I'd rather fly to San Francisco? My daughters live in the city, and frankly it's a much better place to while away the time. I was also hoping to have a good visit with them as well.

i tried to go to a different consulate and was told I had to go to the consulate which had jurisdiction over my state. Los Angeles has jurisdiction over Arizona so you probably will have to go there. You can always call though. Use this website:

I was living in Stockton and had to go to San Francisco, which really isn't that bad. But I remember being told they could have handled most of the process by mail, if necessary if I lived far enough away to where that was too much of a hassle. I'd look into that if I were you.

Thanks for the responses. Not exactly the answer I wanted, but I will definitely call the SF Korean Consulate on Monday. Driving to Orange County, CA from Arizona to my old homestead in Silverado Canyon is not exactly on my to do list. Upside, I have good friends to stay with -- downside is the LA freeway nightmare system in getting to the consulate.

i lived about 4 hours away from Atlanta and tried to get them to do a phone interview - they can do most of it by mail but if I'm not mistaken if it's your E2 you HAVE to do an in person interview - of course, like most Koreans it all depends on who you talk to

I lucked out. I did call the LA Korean Consulate, and yes, because I live in Arizona the interview, etc. has to be done through them because of the jurisdiction. Good news is that because I live out of state, it can be done through overnight mail and phone. Mail costs are a bit expensive, but it sure beats a hellish 6 hour plus drive to Los Angeles and back.
