Hi all, today I was asked to sign a document made by GEPIK.

it is a letter of agreement and says this...

I_________ hereby agree to cooperate and alow my personnel information to be recorded in the National Education Information System (NEIS) database. I am aware that the information recorded is kept strictly confidential and will not be published or used for any other purpose other than the National Education Information System database management.

I was TOLD (but have no written proof) that this is basically to keep our basic info so that our schools dont have to keep asking us for all the info like grad date, degree, etc.

has anyone else seen this? is it really just they are tired or doing the same paperwork over and over, or is it some other thing trying to keep other information they shouldnt have.

if it is the first, props to them, good job. but .... you never know.

anyone else seen this? can you shed any light on it?

I had to sign one.

The next time she lost it, my co-teacher later told me all of her complaints against me also had to be kept on this database.

She is a schizo, so I don't know if that is true.

She did say GEPIK seem to have ignored her complaints (assuming she made any).

I told her I have sent an email to GEPIK complaining about her anyway. Laughing

I had to fill out the same form, and I'm with SMOE. I know a few others that were given one, as well. The purpose you mention sounds great - hope it works!

I was told to give my information again. I've lost count how many times I have given it! I haven't signed anything though.

Did mine last week. It does seem to be an organizational step in the right direction. There is what looks to be a performance review section with a half dozen or so categories at the end. I wonder if it will be harder for poor GEPIK performers to find other jobs with EPIK or SMOE and vice versa now that there appears to be a central database and we're in it. Are Epik folks doing this too?

In my case, my co-teacher can't stand me. If she has written negative stuff about me, I think it's irrelevant.

If my Principal renewed my contract again, this info is not something he'd be aware of. If my co-teacher has written nasty things, my contract renewal would render her criticism invalid.

I'm going to change school this year, I think.

If the info is confidential, I don't know if SMOE/EPIK would be allowed to view it.

Didn't have you in mind specifically fromtheuk, just thinking out loud. Very Happy

As for strictly confidential, I trust my students' parents won't be able to access my information by visiting my school's website from home and that names and passport numbers won't show up in newspapers, but I have little reason to believe my ideas of Confidentiality are any more in accord with Koreans' than they are with such things as Contracts, The Rule of Law, and Justice. No judgement implied.

I got one last week as well. I agree that it's a step in the right direction. I can't imagine how they've been keeping track of us thus far.
