Last night my cell phone was stolen. Anyway, I bought the phone from LG in October (only 50,000 won). What can I expect to be told when I go there? Should I being my contract to the LG store when I go?

I'm sorry, but it isn't rocket science. The contract isn't big, so just bring it along. They will tell you that you need to buy a new phone!

Thanks. I was looking more along the lines of getting an answer concerning if I could get a cheaper one than the one I got with my contract.

Well, apparently it wasn't rocket science for the people at LG. It was rather a nightmare. I told them I just wanted another phone, same number, same contract. They made me to go KT and told me the people there would cancel my contract for me and get me a cheaper phone. I went to KT, and the guy from KT said no, and walked back with me to LG. Then they argued for a while about my contract. They looked at my ARC and got pissed because they said I couldn't get another contract because my card was not a year long, so therefore it made it seem like I would not be in Korea for a year. Mind you, I had already signed the contract in October for a year. After a couple of hours of being in the store and having people argue over what to do, they finally charged me over 120,000 for a new phone, to break my old contract, and to adjust my new contract, which ultimately was the same one I had signed in the first place. I got to keep the same number, though. The KT guy was very concerned about my old phone missing, and he swore it was definitely stolen because apparently, cell phones are very easy to steal in Korea and, I quote, "it happens all the time" he said.

Yeah these phone vendors are unorganized, uncompromising and misinformed. You could have gone pay as you go though with some old junker phone.

But I still needed to cancel my contract and the phone that was gone, so no one charges calls to my account...and that cost cash. Sad

Same thing just happened to me.

I left it in a taxi cab.
According to Koreans I talked to, it's common for them to steal it and sell it off.

I'm irate to say the least. I'd expect this kind of BS to happen in the US of A but not in Korea, where a man will travel from city to city to return a wallet.

So let me tell you a sobbing story.
My original phone costed 200,000 won. Was sweet, had camera, music everything you could want.

All of a sudden the same vendor I went to not more than 3 months ago, has shittier phones now with a much higher price.

And the biggest ball buster is canceling my contract is a bitch, I have to get a new number, and the monthly rates when up.

All in all, I have to spend about 300,000 won, not to mention I lost about 200,000 worth in my phone.... I refuse to have a shitty flip phone, and it's busting my nuts in terms of price.
