I watched the end of this tv show called Sexy Mong (섹시몽). During the part I watched, I saw two Westerners having a drinking party with some Korean girls at an apartment.
In the next scene, one of the Westerners, who looked Korean himself, took one of the Korean girls into a bedroom. He spoke English with bad pronunciation and I was curious as to why, since he was supposedly a Westerner. This guy puts the moves on the Korean girl. She denies him and leaves the room. Then he reaches in his pocket, pulls out some pills which I assume are sleeping pills or something like that, and puts one in a bottle of beer. At this point, I'm thinking, WTF? A foreigner is being portrayed as a sex criminal?
In the next scene, a different Korean girl comes into the bedroom where the guy is still sitting. She says something in English that I couldn't make out and he replies "I have a girlfriend". She doesn't take this seriously pushes herself on him and starts to take his pants off. He lays back and starts to unwrap a condom. His wallet falls out of his pocket. The girl looks in the wallet and sees the guy is a Korean. She busted him, because apparently he was pretending to be a Westerner so he could hook up with Korean girls. She called the guy a pervert and then he raped her, all the while the original girl who was in the room came back and watched the rape from the doorway when she could have intervened.
The next scene reveals that this Korean guy would go to bars and clubs and see Western guys with lots of Korean girls and became jealous. Because of this jealousy, he pretended to be a Westerner in order to get laid.
The messages I got from the show:
1) Westerners get Korean girls easily, because they will even throw themselves on Western guys
2) Korean men are jealous of #1
3) It's okay to watch a rape without intervening
Oh well, this is just my reaction. |

I saw Terminator 3 last night.
The messages I got from this.
1. Computers (Skynet) will take over the world shortly.
2. They will build giant killing machines to slaughter all humans
3. We should be more worried about this then some idiotic Korean show.

The show is generally pretty trashy, depicting men as perverts. That's the premise, I mean.
But I didn' care for that episode with the Westerners, considering the "English teachers" were either (a) Korean or (b) Eastern European.
What gets me is that they found some white assholes willing to play into the stereotype of the foreign sexual predator. Congratulations, you got to feel up a Korean girl on TV. Now die.

Somebody should make a Korean ajoshi byuntae version of this show back home on Cable Access. See drunken Korean old men doing all kinds of hilarious stuff. Now we just need some gyopos to be the perverts  .

That one I seriously would question.
I know in the smaller towns, even the Gyopos sometimes have trouble convincing Koreans that they are "real" foreigners--- and the Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, Hmongs-Americans, etc... will often be perceived as Eastern rather than Western. Koreans have a much more enmeshed perception of nationality, culture, and race.
Having said that, I knew guys back home who would fake European accents to seduce bar skanks. They often succeded.
This show you speak of sounds like a racist sexist hatefest.
Or was it some kind of snl-esque satire?

The Koream would have to alter his dress style, accent and try to resist his innate Korean programming if he wanted to succeed. It's pretty sad that in his country, he would need to pretend in order to pick up his fellow countrywomen. |

Oh please--- this thread is about a tv show, not reality. Being foreign and exotic can be a "hook" in any country when it comes to dating or getting laid. For whatever advantage this gives dudes like me, Korean men have plenty of advantages of their own--- shared language, shared culture, being of a race the girl's parents and society will approve of, etc.... |
