|
|
I have been teaching in Korea for five years. I am on an F-2 visa and will most likely be spending a significant amount of time here, so making a serious investment to improve my resume is a good idea.
What are the real, good and legit types of courses I can do to help myself?
I dont want to do one on the internet, i am thinking more like the ones i think in england where you go there for a few weeks.
any advice?
or... i have been reading on job descriptions that they sometimes dont like online degrees. so what is a good place in korea to get a master's in education (or something else like history that i could use to teach history here) (classes done in english)
thanks for any help. |

While there is no difference in Korea, a CELTA or a Trinity TESOL are by far the two best certificates with international recognition. Plus you can get them almost anywhere, included Seoul (CELTA).
Take a hiatus in Phuket for a month and enjoy! |

i currently have an online 100 hour TEFL, which is the same as a CELTA for GEPIK, but if i want to do something like teach history at a real uni, that isnt going to cut it. so i am thinking like a CELTA, like you said in the next vacation, then starting a master's degree program in seoul.
thanks |

I doubt there are too many jobs for history MAs teaching history (if you know of one, let me know, as I've got one).
If you want to up your qualifications to teach uni get an MA in applied linguistics with a thesis option and a supervisor who has some name recognition. |

There are a few English MA programmes. I believe Sookmyeong Women's University has one (which you can take even if you're not a woman, though I don't know what confusion that could create if you have a degree that says 'Women's Univeristy' on it). Just make sure that it states that English was the language of instruction if you want it to be worth anything in the English speaking world. |
