Hey all,

Just been to the Docs and was told I have high blood pressure. Obviously I'm going to try and sort this out (Stop drinking at least for a month, eat less salt etc) but I just wanted to know what the Korean medical check will make of it?

Thanks Smile

Mine was through the roof when I got here. They could care less. I didn't do anything special, and it came down quite a bit in the last couple of months. They also didn't care about the fatty liver business! Very Happy

haha thanks losing touch,

You're in Ulsan too (aren't you?) don't wanna seem like a weird internet stalker but I'm sure you've answered something for me before.

Hopefully then I'll find an equally blaz doctor!
Good luck with the fatty liver, hope it hasn't taken too much more abuse Smile

Yes, I am in Ulsan. I went to Ulsan University Hospital in Dong-gu. As for the liver, Korea is not forgiving in this regard.

I've had it for over ten years. It won't affect you ability to renew your contract. Try to keep it secret from your employess as they'll use it for office room gossip particulary if you like to drink.

Yeah, coworkers and their gossip is really your biggest problem. I had a medical problem when I first got here because a medication I normally took was lost, and my health check was done almost a month after I got here (a month of not having the needed medication), so the doctors were trying to get me to check into emergency, and this got around the school where I was working, and it was the never-ending conversation while I was here. After I got the medication, everything in my system finally started settling back down, but it was two months of hell.

Fortunately, I work for a private school where the turnover in Korean teachers is MASSIVE (yeah, badly run). There are so few teachers teaching now that were here when I first arrived so that no one really seems to know what happened when I first got here, other than a few friends I made (who were here the whole time) and the director himself.
