Was just looking at the topic postings and noticed a lot of cynicism (I saw the 'beat down an ajoshi/ajumma threads), so I was wondering what came to mind first when you thought about the problems in Korea. Please post before you read, so we can get a truer idea of what the probs are, uninfluenced by other posters. |

The spitting really bothers me. It may seem like a petty grievance but it is known to spread disease. Ever wonder why tuberculosis is common in South Korea?
Ignorant smokers are another. Smoke where they please like they're the cock of the walk.
Although there are a shopping list of other things, most other things I can tolerate even if I don't like them. |

Douchebag foreigners |
This is SO true. Stupid foreigners (and we all know there are plenty of them) actually bug me much more than any Korean behaviour that I've personally encountered here. |

I can agree with that. I'm glad to not have met many of them...hearing stories is MORE than enough. |

So what constitutes a douchebag foreigner? I'm quite certain I'm not one, nor will I be one when I go to Korea, but still would like to be able to spot one coming toward me. |

Agreed on the foreigners.
However, as this will be translated, poorly, on somebody's K-comment board...the lack of a can-do attitude. Seems that Koreans are more concerned with procedure than substance. |

I'd have to go with the racism that seems to cloud all intellectual endeavours here, and the generous daily dose of xenophobia encountered anywhere you're not paying for something (and some places where you would be).
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this yet. |

the rampant absence of logic and critical thinking skills, combined with a knee-jerk reaction to any and all percieved "problem" - and then keeping whatever policy that was created as a result (no matter how assenine) because they will not admit to a mistake. |

Foreigners with a beam in their eye trying to look smart whining about the motes in Koreans' eyes. I mistakenly thought I would escape parochial Canadians and Americans here. |

No good candy.
Yeah, there are better complaints but that is the FIRST that comes to mind. I guess I'm pretty satisfied with Korea overall. |

Most of all the group think that occurs over crazy lies Koreans are fed. For ex. the US beef thing and the idea that a fan can kill you. Koreans are very sheepish in a follow the heard way. |
