My ipod screen is f****d. People have been telling me that I must've dropped it, but I know for a fact that I didn't. The outer screen is OK, but inside, it has what looks like a cigarette burn in the middle with cracks spreading outwards.
My question is, can ipod screens be replaced, or is my ipod destined to become an external hard drive. I can just about make out the text, so it's fine for music, but absolutely no use for movies. Cheers

The first obvious question is has your warenty run out? and if it has go ahead and see if apple will replace it or give you some deal on a replacement. |

Unlike most other MP3 Players, the iPOD CANNOT be used as an external hard drive. |

Which iPod is it?

If it's anything up to the 5th generation, I can fix it easily. You might also want to look at Yongsan station for the part. It's really easy to fix. |

I store files on my ipod from time to time. I also read pdf's on it as well. |

I had the same problem with my old 5th gen iPod video. I think if the screen comes in contact with a magnet, it f--ks it up. Or maybe it was a focused impact from something, or if you bumped into a desk corner while it was in your pocket, for example.
You can get a new screen installed, but it will probably cost more than a new iPod.

Yes they can! And they are probably the most reliable ext hard drive you could ask for. Very fast copying speeds! |

The Ipod Touch is the only one I know which can't be used as an external HD. All others can, (not sure about the new nanos tho) |
