Anyone know of a computer repair shop in Itaewon (or any other area that's easily accessible from the subway) where I can have ram added to my laptop? |

you're willing to pay to have somebody to put ram into your laptop? It's a simple 30 sec process for that you're going to pay anywhere from 10-20k won. Unbelieveable. |

There are any number of shops in the son-in plaza across the tracks from Yongsan station that speak tech well enough for your needs and will cost you far less than a shop in Itaewon.
Walk in the left door, go down the hall and turn right at the end. You will see lots of RAM and laptop repair/service shops.

almost any vendor in ipark or digital space or whatever that big yongsan building is called will pop that ram in your laptop for no extra charge. just walk in, tell them what you want, and they'll do it for you. |

Walk across the tracks (overhead pedestrian walkway from Yongsan station) and you will save 30% for your trouble.

I went today to have my computer repaired at Johnny's in Itaewon. He quoted me a price of 150,00 yet when I came back for the computer I was charged 35,000 more. He told me he had downloaded Norton Antivirus( Mine was expired) and a region 3 player. I thought this was as a courtesy as I did not ask for it. Later when I got home he had written on my receipt he charged me 35,000 for the downloads. He also wrote on the receipt he charged me for a download that was already on my computer. I don't know if this is common in Korea but I consider it to be a dishonest practice. I have asked him by email for a refund for the 35,000. I have not received an answer yet.......I just checked Amazon.com and the Anti virus program is ony 27.00. He is a rip off |

Although I am sorry you got screwed with, I feel it important to point out that the exchange rate would make that about right for the Antivirus, I would guess. |

It has nothing to do with the exchange rate. How can they install and charge you for something you did not ask for? |

Yes I know about the exchange rate. I am real disappointed in his service and the attitudes of the Koreans. Similar things have happened to my friends in different business situations in Itaewon. |

I just picked up my computer from Johnny Computers in Itaewon yesterday. He fixed it and I was charged the price that he quoted with no extra downloads. I paid about 200,000 (160 + 30 for a 'diagnostic fee') to replace some of my hardware because my computer wouldn't charge anymore
Anyway, if you want to go there you take the alley behind the Hard Rock Cafe and go right. It's a few shops in on the right side. |

if your laptop still on guarantee time, I think you should go to the place where you bought your laptop, because to add the ram I think you need to open the sealed from the company, and if the you break the seal you can not you the guarantee benefit anymore. |
