My co-teacher lost it today. Out of the blue too.
She is late finishing some of our lessons. I normally say farewell to the students at the door before they leave, as expected by my co-teacher.
But today because we ran over by a few minutes I went straight to my office instead.
When she lost it, she said I must say farewell to the students. I agreed but said if we keep running over after the lesson ends I won't wait for her and the class to say goodbye.
I said I need 10 minutes rest and the class is meant to be 40 minutes not anything more than that.
Anyway, I said farewell to the next class because we ended on time.
She said earlier she was going to tell the V.P. and Principal about this. I'll back down if I have to, but at least she finished the last lesson on time, because of her losing it earlier.
She was shouting, looked angry and a few kids noticed. I smiled, kept calm and thought to myself she is such a plonker.
Anyway, I will wait and see if she approaches the V.P. and P. and see what they say. No doubt they'll agree with her if she asks them, but at least I made it clear I'm not willing to hang around after lessons finish, just because she has poor organizational skills.
Any comments, feel free. |

At the end of my lessons, I say goodbye and that I'll see them next week. Why is your co-teacher so concerned about your saying goodbye or not? It seems to me she wouldn't care if you sat and read in the corner silently throughout the whole class, but said goodbye at the end of class.
She's acting as if saying goodbye takes the time that telling a bedtime story would.

You're really doing a great job of digging your own grave, aren't you?
It seems like every other day you've got another complaint on here and it also seems like it's your own fault.
Grow up or get lost.
A few extra minutes over...big deal. What makes you think that you're so high and mighty. You have to have your precious 10 minute break? What...are you geriatric? |

^^I couldn't agree more. You're lucky she teaches with you. I teach the full 40 by myself and sometimes things don't always go as planned. Some activites might take longer/shorter. There have been numerous times when class ran over and I didn't get my breaks...BIG DEAL. |

BTW--The class is meant to cover certain objectives as dictated by the curriculum. If that means it goes over by 5 minutes, then it goes over by 5 minutes.
Your co-teacher is pissed because you and your partner work together but you left early (without asking) and because you set a bad example for the students. |

fromtheuk....I simply cannot understand a) how your relationship with a co-teacher can be so fucked up that you let "issues" like this become problems and B) you come to daves, post (gloat?) about it and invite what I am sure you know will be invective from daves posters. |

Based on this post and previous posts, I doubt the OP is much older than the students it attempts to teach. fromtheuk definitely wins the *beep* of the year award. |

Okay, that's fair enough you agree it's not a big deal for a class to run late. Fair point.
But does that mean it is acceptable for her to get angry and start shouting?
Anyway, I will back down, but I didn't like the way she asked me, it's her fault the class ran late. |

Gosh you seem thick, clueless, and not in control. 90% of the time my lesson ends when the bell goes. 5% of the time it ends a minute or two early; 5% of the time a minute or two late. When it's time to end I have the class prefect (bahn jang) stand and bring the class to attention: 'Attention! Bow! Thank-you sir!' and I respond with 'see you next time' or whatever. In other words it's just like the ending to any Korean teacher's class but in English.
What is so difficult about doing things 'the Korean why' when it clearly works so much better? |

I'm in control, but she insists on doing all the lesson plan even if it goes over 40 mins.
I have started classes and done parts of class when she pops out of the room, so for her to make a big deal of this is rude.
If she tells the P. and he backs her. From now on, I will repeat the 'I was told it's ilegal to teach alone and won't teach unless the Korean teacher is there' motto. |

Yeah, but who's the bigger "plonker"? Who could be bothered perusing threads about mundane workplace non-events? fromtheuk...QUIT BORING US!
