|
|
Hey, I'm heading to thailand on saturday for two weeks, basically I fly into bangkok at 12pm so will need to find a cheap place to stay on ko san road before taking a flight to ko samui in the morning..... can anyone give me a review of anywhere they've stayed on ko san recently that was pretty cheap and also clean and safe as far as leaving money in my room goes.
also any suggestions of huts or places in koh samui that fit this description would be greatly appreciated as well. |

Walk down Koh san Rd with Starbucks on your right side on the same side as Starbucks. At the end of the rd turn right cross over the rd and take your first left.
After the restaurants you will see a hotel on your left that has a Indian restaurant outside. They have good cheap rooms and a safe. never leave cash in your room in Thailand. |

That place near the Indian restaurant is good. There are other places along KSR if you don't mind noise until 2 a.m. I've stayed at Wally's guesthouse about halfway down a few times. It's not bad.

Samslodge looks good. I'll have to check that out. It's about the same price as some of the better Love Hotels here.
There used to be a place in the Thong Lor area called Big John's guesthouse. That was a great place to stay where you could get great western food. Last I heard, it had been turned into a flea hotel/hostel/flophouse. |

if you're flying to samui the next morning why not stay near the airport, your price will be about the same figuring in what a taxi will run you to and from ksr (figure 500-700 baht r/t) that makes the price for a dive around 1000 baht figuring that in plus your time, you can get a place near the airport for under 1200 baht
if you still want to go to the ksr area, i recommend erwan house, its behind the wat and its very quiet. single with a/c and breakfast ran 750 baht last month for me. if thats too much still stay behind the wat, its much quieter there |

I love how directions everywhere in the world seem to involve Starbucks. |

Get the airport express bus to Kao San road, not a taxi!
Opposite the bus stop is a hotel called Rainbow. Stay in the place to the left of that, can't remember the name.
Have fun! |

It could be worse. He could have said '7-11'. |
