The staff at the Korean Consulate in L.A. are incredibly nice, easy-going, helpful, and polite. I just got back from there, and was amazed at how nice they were.

Really? When I called, the woman who answered didn't speak English (or even try to speak English) and just transferred me to a pre-recorded message that said "Sorry, no English speaking staff are available" Rolling Eyes

Good to know. I'll be going to the Korean Consulate (on Wilshire?) in a couple of weeks to finalize everything.

the Vice-Consulate on clay street in San fran is nice. He e-mailed me twice and I spoke on the phone to him.

I went through Boston, and they have an American taking care of the processing. She was incredibly nice, and fast.

Were any of you at the consulate today? I noticed a few foreigners in the visa line...

I went through this consulate myself. I dropped off my docs around 9 and had my visa after 3 the same day. I got some diploma copies made and notarized right there on the spot as well. They did give me static, though. I was supposed to go to another consulate, as the LA one doesn't cover my state. They didn't turn me away, but told me I had used my free pass.
