The CyrptKeeper's statistics:

American "suicides" have doubled in 2005-2008 from 2002-2005 according to this Department of State website:

http://www.travel.state.gov/law/family_issues/death/deathReport.php?country=99

wonder what it takes to qualify for a suicide?

Who would the police ask if there's no note? Would just your co-workers saying you had been depressed enough??

Look at the entry for Jun 13, 2008.

That same month American "T" was found in his apt, after having passed away some days before. His hakwon director hadn't realized he was missing~ imagine that! Then poof~ no more in the news about it, the Embassy can't say because American T wasn't registered or hadn't wavied his privacy rights in case of death.

So there's only this link from the DOS showing a suicide for a few days prior to American "T" being found. baffling, disturbing~ think I'm going to go write letters home letting folks know I'd never commit suicide, maybe put on on file at the embassy too....hmmmm....

I'll leave the thread tasteful, no reason I need to be the one to drag it down before it even gets going..

Rest assured someone will be along eventually to take care of that.

Those same people would've probably committed suicide eventually no matter where they are.

One of the comments posted from the link said that he had been recently fired from his job, which would explain why nobody checked on him for days. It would be awful if he killed hiimself because he was distraught over being fired and didn't have savings to go home or just felt like he had nothing, whatever. Someone also said he was a loner and stayed home, etc.

I don't know what's baffling about it. It's the guy's private business. I wouldn't want the embassy saying anything about me to nosy people either.
