During this rather bizzare week sandwiched in between the 6-week 'winter vacation' and the 2-week 'spring break' I believe I am the only teacher at my school making the students do any 'work'. All my students got to watch a movie the last couple of classes before vacation... and this week I planned lessons. When I walk into a classroom and they see me carrying handouts, a chorus of 38 "Noooooooo teacher... movie time!" rises in unison.
Every classroom (with a K-teacher) I walk by seems to have the TV on.
What's it like at your school? |

I started of with Haiku's now we are watching movies or just not going to class and letting the students rule the halls.
I like it,.
The students drew a picture of me the other day all rippling with muscles from my workout at the local gym, sadly they also drew lots of people kicking me and telling me they didn't want to work.
Ah well..... |

in my school, the teachers seem to go to class really late (15 minutes) and let the kids read their own books. many times i walk by classes and the teacher has left again. |

Kids are at my elementary school only until noon and are doing whatever they want.. Teachers sit chatting in the main office off and on during the morns leaving the kids to their own devices... I'm told the kids are doing "self study." Graduation this Friday, and then next week they're "off" again for spring break... Won't be any English classes until March...Seems rather pointless to have them here, or for me to be here, too for that matter, but who am I to judge... |

Every class has the TV on, including mine. Yesterday I had two grade 2 classes back to back and I arranged with the art teacher who had the lesson before me and science teacher who had a block after me to combine our classes and spend two blocks showing both classes a movie in the art room. Then we could all bugger off back to the staff room. |

At my elementary school, the kids are sitting in class, but there doesn't seem to be any teaching going on.
All Grade 6 classes were cancelled today. I have one class left this morning and that's it before March.
My last ever class with my co-teacher today. Happiest day of the year, so far. |

It sounds like I'm the only teacher in K-land who is actually (trying) to teach this week... maybe I should 'lighten up'... naw... I'm EVIL! |

Yesterday we played Uno. Today we talked about traveling and I asked them where they would like to go. So they are researching countries on the web (some are playing video games though) and tomorrow they will make travel posters since there are no pictures in our classroom.
Other classes, I don't know. I've been pretty much alone at this school for a while now. I feel like growing a hump and changing my name to Quasimoto. |

Make that two. Two who are teaching. Two who are being evil. |

I am "teaching" this afternoon. My grade 6 students didn't come to school today so i didn't have morning classes. I'm just going to play games using some material that they learned throughout the previous year. |

Today I stopped by one of my HS classes before classes started to see what their schedule was and if we could use two of their whole morning blocks to finish a movie. Sure enough, two of my darling students came down before second block (I teach them third block) saying they had nothing to do second block and wanted to start the movie. I left them with the handouts and DVD player and basically let things run themselves. The past two months at my school (or on holiday) have been so incredibly easy that it's going to be a shock to my system actually to have to teach a full schedule come March. |

I just went to check up on my grade 2s. It seems that the three classes of them have mixed-and-matched according to whether they want to watch High School Musical, Prison Break, or music videos. Since 2/3 of them are watching something in English and no other teachers can apparently be arsed to check up on them I figure I'll let them be. |

It's "paperwork" time...just like that 3 weeks of nothing after finals was also "paperwork." School system here is totally messed up. Seriously, what kind of "system" , other than a gong-show, plans 4 weeks of no curriculum into a school year?

Below your post I had the Baboshirts ad showing their t-shirt "Millionare in Won".
I have been showing the beginning of Minority Report with Korean subs to every class, last week and this.
