Hi,
I've just found out that I (and the other two foreigners on my floor) have to give a model lesson next friday, in preparation for the new 'journalism' class that will start next semester.
No big deal, except that all the Korean teachers will be watching. This irks me for a number of reasons, most notably the fact that the last one I did (when I arrived two months ago) was the most embarrassing experience of my life. I was a fresh-off-the-boat newbie and had no experience, but rather than train me up, they simply put me infront of the other teachers (who had been briefed to behave like spoiled brats). It was a nightmare.
I don't mind giving the two head teachers a lesson, or indeed having observations which have happened a few times, but this seems like a ploy to make the foreigners look stupid (which succeeded last time).
Am I just being paranoid?
It just bugs me how we never get to watch the Korean teachers' lessons, yet are expected to be made fools of infront of everyone.
Should I refuse?
Thanks for reading my rant! |

Not that this will help but it seems to me that the stupider they can get to make you look, the smarter they look.
Not that anyone agrees, but it is all about appearances, right? This is Korea.
Sure why not see how refusing goes? They won't like it but t might at least get you more help.

Dont refuse. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Pick on the teachers who embarrassed you last time. Dont get angry or show your discontent. Just make them look like fools from the material but act like you`re really trying to help them. Use a patronizing, kindie voice on them. |
