Tomorrow, I will have the honour of saying I have worked with GEPIK for 1 year and 9 months.
I'm proud to work with GEPIK because:
1) Unlike EPIK, I'm not known as a GET. In some regions of England, that is a variation of the insult 'git'. I'm a Native English Teacher (I'd rather be a net than a get).
2) I have my own clean room/office to sit in, without disturbance.
3) I work no weekends, at all, ever.
4) I work for the Korean government, I am a government employee, and this gives me some added self-respect.
5) I am not in Seoul, but close to it, this is another benefit of working with GEPIK.
6) My next contract should see a jump in salary from 2.1 to 2.5 million won a month. My 2 years of consecutive employment coupled with a TESOL certificate is responsible for that.
7) I get paid to sit around and do almost anything I want in the afternoon, during camps. It's incredibly boring, but my school is warm, and they pay for the heating.
I appreciate there are natives who have experienced good and bad things with GEPIK.
Isn't GEPIK epic? (No, Dain Bae didn't ask me to write this)

some good points there but you really work for the school, not GEPIK and Dain Bae and the GEPIK contract is pretty much the framework that you build around (at least that's the way I like to look at it)
some people have more and surprise camps, some people have less.
some people deskwarm during vacations, some don't.
it all depends on your school. it all depends on how much you're liked at your schoo and your relationship with the big chiefs on the reservation (aka principal and VP)
I'll never apply for work thru GEPIK and let them place me.
No - instead I'll happily apply directly to a school that's under the GEPIK umbrella and deal directly with them.
p..s speaking of GEPIK I just had to sign a form allowing them to put and keep my personal information in some kind of "database", with assurances that all my private information/privacy would be protected (yeah right!!!!!!!!!!)
p.p.s. - out of curiosity, isn't it the school's prerogative to bump you up to 2.5 rather, rather than a requirement? |

Yes, it is their responsibility to increase my pay, but as a lowly foreigner I'm grateful for anything we are entitled to.
Wes - Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was a descendant of Ismail (PBUH) (Ishmael in the Judeo/Christian tradition).
Ismail (PBUH) was an Israelite Prophet, but in Islam we consider him to be a Muslim i.e. he worshipped only God and followed His commands, therefore he was not a Jew, but a Muslim.
We believe all Prophets were Muslim i.e. preached pure monotheism and forbade polytheism. Adam (PBUH) was the first Prophet, and Muhammad (PBUH) was the last Prophet.
In Islam, all Prophets practiced monotheism and were therefore Muslim. They didn't associate partners with God or worship others as God i.e. man became God, or He begot a son etc.
Arabs are all descendants of Ismail (PBUH), Muhammad (PBUH) never worshipped false Gods. When he became the Messenger of God, he preached Islam. Therefore, Jewish roots have nothing to with Muhammad (PBUH).
Back on topic now please everybody.
I'm naturally positive anyway. |
