Some outside dogs near my school recently had puppies. I'm thinking about adopting one of the pups.
How much would a trip to the vet cost and what would the vet do?
The owner said he could buy shots for around 5,000 won and inject the dog himself. But how do I know if he is giving the dog all the necessary shots?

just adopt one and take it to an English-speaking vet. There's no way it would cost just 5,000 won for the shots. It would probably cost between 100,000 won and 150,000 won... |

5,000 for a shot sounds really wrong. |

5,000 won for a vac. can be had. My mom vaccinates all her dogs and the meds are cheap from the local feed store. However, it is usually just one vac. Parvo, I think. Rabies, kennel cough, etc...need to be administered by a vet.
I take my dog to the vet all the time and guinea pig too. Yearly boosters, heart worm tests and meds for two dogs runs me less than 100,000. |

Checking animalrescuekorea.org is a good tip to get a vet recommendation for wherever you live (and also a way to find homes for the other puppies, if they need help), because I've found that quality varies widely. I've had a totally indifferent vet whose arm I almost had to twist to do basic checks, and a really attentive one who gets concerned if he doesn't see her for a long time (she's had heartworm issues).
Immunizations really are incredibly cheap in Korea. It won't cost W100,000. If it's a female dog, assume about W300,000 for spaying...I'm not sure about neutering a male dog, but it's much, much cheaper. I'm thinking W100,000 or less? |

I have two cats, and the shots really weren't all that expensive at all. Spaying was a little costly, but that's it. |

Vet care in Korea is extremely cheap compared to Canada or America, and excellent in quality. I can't tell you how much exactly it will cost, but you will be looking at a very reasonable cost. |
