|
|
I have no idea what Im supposed to do for the medical report to gain an E-2 Visa....
What exactly do I need to test for??
So far I figured TBPE and HIV... is there anything else??
Is there anything I need to specifically request from my doctor? A kind of stamp or seal on the results...
Cheers for your help! |

Chances are there are 2 things you will need to provide:
1. The medical declaration form-the school should send you this.
2. A general check up-this is as if you were to go and see a doctor in your usual country-the doc checks your blood pressure, taps your knee a few times, asks you some questions, that kind of thing. Get him/her to seal it in an envelope if you want. No biggie. |

It is also important to know that you can't just go to any doctor to get the medical check ... You need to go to one of the approved places ... and the good thing is they should know what you need in addition to those things. I am sure someone will be able to post the name in Korean of what the name of what we need is . I know I have seen it on here before ... but I didn't need to know it as my school took me to the hospital to get it done and lucky for me paid for it as well. |

sorry to hijack... but does anyone know of a good hospital to do this test in in incheon or seoul?
when i say "good" i don't necessarily mean cheap, i'm more concerned with competence (i've heard stories of people getting their chest x-rays done without the protective apron given to them...)
any suggestions would be great! thanks |

I am in my home country... not Korea... as far as I know I needed this medical test to get the visa... is it possible to get the visa without the midcal test and then have it done in Korea once I arrive?? |

Ok so I went ahead and called the Korean Consulate to save a whole lot of hassle!!
The medical test can only be done in Korea at recognised hospitals... which means we dont need it to get the visa... But Im guessing we wont get our ARC cards until the results are back...?? |

You do a medical (self) questionnaire prior to getting your visa. This is sent along with your contract and other documents to Korea to get your visa confirmation number.
AFTER you arrive in Korea and BEFORE you can get your ARC you will need to have your medical.

According to the Immigration regulations, the medical check can be done at a government hospital (국립병원 or 공립병연) or a general hospital (종합병원). The following are the relevant sections of the E-2 regulations in Korean and English, taken from the Immigration Guide on the HiKorea website (http://www.hikorea.go.kr):
Korean:
Quote: |
English:
Quote: |
- Submit health examination records upon applying to be a registered foreigner after entering Korea.
※ Recruitment health exam MUST include TBPE test(tests for drug abuse) and HIV test (tests for AIDS) results(cannabinoid test for Marijuana need not to be included) |
I'd suggest printing them out (especially the Korean) and taking them with you so the hospital will give you what you need. |

on this occassion in making my second contract |I only had to sign a medical declaration form ticking a few boxes yes or no to my past and present health history to my knowledge.
|The first time |I applied for my visa |I needed a medical check-up report and not this declaration form to make the visa. |

Does anyone have a list of approved hospitals to get this done? And what do we need to take with us? Does anyone know where we can find the documents?
I'm trying to get everything done here in Korea before I head out and come back. |

For those in Seoul go to Seoul Medical Center (서올의료워) at Samsung Station on subway line #2. SMOE sends all of their teachers there so the staff is well-versed in the latest immi requirements. The website is http://www.seoulmc.or.kr/english/info/info_01.asp and their phone number is 02-3430-0257. The whole thing costs around 60,000 KRW. You don't need an appointment but don't forget to bring your passport, ARC (if you already have one) and 2 passport-sized photos. |

I send all my teachers to Seoul National University Hospital in Hyewha. Line 4, exit 3. Phone number 02-2072-0505. They speak exellent English, and will guide you threw the whole process. They know what needs to be done for the test. A little pricey, 100,000 Won. Book an appointment ahead of time.
The nurses will walk you to all the tests, and bump you ahead of all the lines.
As for the xray without the apron, I have had mutliple xrays here, and never have they put an apron on me. (not just for the required test, but also for back problems.) |

To everyone who did the medical check: did you get the paperwork back that same day? How do they return the forms to you? |
