Hello All,

I am going to America in July with my Korean wife and wanted to ask if I fly into San Francisco with a 12 hour layover, can we leave the airport to do a little sightseeing? Has anyone done this? Is it hard? Since Korea is in the Visa Waiver Program, does it make it easier on her? Can we check the bags for our next flight, leave the airport, and then go back to the airport and go straight to the gate?

Anybody who has done this or knows if this is possible, please let me know.

Thanks,

BABO

Yes, perfectly possible.

Your bags should already be checked to your final destinations - unless you are changing from an international carrier to a national one, in which case, you need to collect your bags, store it in left luggage, and then check in again.

Check with your airlines.

I did it before, so I'm sure you can, too. Also, if all your lugage is already checked to your final destination, then I think you don't have to worry about it. You'll have to go through security again, but just keep your luggage where it is; it's already where it's supposed to be!

Entering the United States, you will need to go through security again anyway. This will not be a problem. After being stamped into the states, just walk outside!

Let us know how many single korean girls are on the flight with you. I suspect many might be bailing out of korea now.

No, you can not leave the original plane.

You stay on the plane the whole time until your next plane is boarding.

Bring some interesting books to read.
