Ok I dont have a visa, but am an American and came on the visa waiver program. I found a job and the school wants me to try to extend/get some temporary extension to keep me here for a few extra days. My 90 days expire tomorrow and i doubt they will give me one. Is there any way to extend my stay in Korea past the 90 days without leaving the country? Thanks for the help.

You can extend your stay for at least a few days. Grab your school's (hakwon's) business card and your passport and head down to Immigration. Show them your passport and tell them you've been working for three months and would like to extend your visa. They can call your hakwon boss to translate, but someone should be able to speak good enough English. Let us know how it turns out.

If you overstay your tourist visa, you will not get a work visa. Your Hakwon will send you to Fukuoka, you'll sit in a hotel for a while, then you'll come back legally. They will do this prepaid. Or you'll be buying your own way on the shinkansen to Tokyo, grab the subway to Narita, and haul your happy ass back to wherever it was you came from, because working illegally here is not acceptable if you get caught. And if you overstay, you will get caught.
