Hi all,
Next month I will go to Japan to get my new E-1 visa. Just to say that I will have left my old job after 6 months. I already have my visa insurance number for the new E-1 visa. My questions is this......do I have to do anything at the airport in order to cancel my current E-2 as there is still 6 months left on it? Also do I need to hand in my ARC card at the airport?
Thanks |

I know in order to get a new E2 visa number, your first visa needs to be cancelled. I would have thought it would be the same for the E1. Immigration surely knows that you are on an E2 visa. Are you still working on the E2? Is it possible your school cancelled your E2 visa?
At any rate, you can go to immigration and tell them that you are leaving your E2 job, and that you have been issued an E1 visa number, they will take your ARC and give you an exit order. That will effectively cancel your visa.
If you don't want to go to immigration, handing in your ARC and telling the officer should cancel your visa. I would go to immigration as that is a sure bet. |
