Many posters are OBVIOUSLY recruiters or working for recruiters. STOP posting "Gee, I don't know, but I love a certain recruiter" and then posting a link to the homepage. BUY AN AD.
I'm going to start naming names and reporting posts/threads/recruiters to mods. Yeah, it's getting disgusting. BUY AN AD.
I have to follow the rules, and so do YOU. |

I'd like to recommend Rowan at ESL Planet. He's a great guy and a pretty darn good recruiter. |

SURE, I'm a RECRUITER. I don't LIE 24/7.
It's more like Korvia and ATOP and some others need to buy a freakin' ad. |

Just play dumb, eh? Oh, NO recruiters are using this board to post their links or names. Yeah, right.
Typically, someone starts a thread "My recruiter lied to me about something" and then another poster will add-
" Mindy at blahblahblah recruiting agency helped me find a job right away and she can help you, too. Go to the blahblahblah.com website and you'll soon have many great schools to choose from. Our, I mean THEIR recruiters always work for you. In fact, call now and we'll, I mean THEY'LL send you a free calendar."
Tell me that's NOT an ad? |

OK. you've been told.
Some people have had good experiences with recruiters and just want other people to have the same. What's wrong with that? |

I actually had a great experience with Joyce. It`s not bullshit or an ad. People would have to go and search for Joyce`s email and Korvia`s website. It`s useful for rookies to get good help in their search for work. I dont spread their name around like troll spam, either. Get off it wylies. |

The industry being served is sleezy, so the people trying to make a buck by running middle man for it can't be much better. Every recruiter out there will try to rationalize this away, but it's a fact. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
So when I see any post mentioning anything about any recruiter, I automatically give the same advice; screw them all. Send the ol' resume out to the lot of them and then pick and chose from among the offers that come in. |

Good advice!
It's even better if you know exactly what you want/where you want to work... use 'em all until one gets you what you want. |

Most of the good jobs like in every industry go to people who know people. So when you apply to recruiters you are just lucky to get a good job.
One newfie comes from Canada and sends emails back home to buddy and says nice women, pay better than the dole and lots of drinking. He ends up getting jobs for 5 guys and they get jobs for 2-3 each and it spreads.
Once someone finds a good job they tell their contacts. You can still luck out with recruiters but they have a lot of crap jobs that nobody wants. |

Funny you mention that. Think I said before that a long time ago I worked part time at a hakwon doing nights. A new guy came in, a Newfie as it turned out, and we had all planned on taking him out one of his first weekend.
He was a nice guy. Said we didn't need to trouble ourselves....he had a reunion set up with a bunch of his buddies from back home and just through word of mouth pretty much had a grip on Seoul. Classic. More power to him. Think he did two years, paid off his loans, banked a load of coin, then headed back to Canada and is now a high school teacher (must be going on 10 years by now). Good memory. |
