|
|
About 1/2 the recruiters told me that there aren't any more public school positions open, and the other half say there are. I already got all the paperwork done for a hagwon that didn't work out, now before I start gathering up all my documents again, can anyone tell me if there are Public School positions hiring? I found one through a recruiter that supposedly wants me over there ASAP, but I thought I'd check with you good people before I put more time and effort into it.
thanks for any advice, |

Is the pope catholic?... do bears poop in the woods?
Any recruiter that tells you PSs are not hiring is lying and just trying to get you into a hogwan 'opening' so they can collect their money. Find a different recruiter! |

cruise- thanks for the help. I see the paperwork is a bit more than the hagwon. I signed the first and last pages of the contract, but is there any chance that for some reason I won't get into it?
I've strained out all my credit cards waiting to go to Korea. I don't have enough money to move anywhere, and in the remote location I'm in (living in with my parents, just graduated) there are no jobs. Do Public school positions fall through? I'm just really paranoid after sitting here for 2 months, waiting for that hagwon that fell through at the last minute.
Sorry for the ranting,
-P |

Why didn't you sign EVERY page of the contract?
It's unusual for a PS position to fall through... unless the recruiter is 'screwing' with you.
P.S. They ALL want you over here ASAP. Have you sent the contract and docs. to K-land yet? Don't be rushed into a bad decision due to your desperation (or their insistence). If necessary, borrow some money from your parents.

The recruiter said he just needed those pages signed for them to show I'm "serious", until I get all the documents again (background check, transcript, etc) then I'll send the entire contract and other documents in and what not. |

If you're living with your parents, why are you using your credit cards?
That said, if you've been waiting 2 months, I don't think it's going to happen. |

Because my parents don't have any money for me.
The process for the Hagwon took about 2 months, then everything was ready, and fell apart.
I just got the Public School application. I'm just hoping that won't fall apart. |

Public schools are always hiring-end of story.
I started my public school job almost in November one year. Not every contract has an ending in August or Feb so they are always looking and not all the schools even have one FT yet. |

Although Jan - Mar is the prime PS hiring season, there are ALWAYS available PS positions. Just stick to your guns, don't let anyone yank/wank you around, and know what you want and express it concisely, politely, and firmly. The bad recruiter will immediately walk away, realizing it's a waste of time. The good recruiter will work with you for mutual benefit. |

I've had a pretty good recruiter who has been in constant contact w/ me all the way regarding my PS position. You can PM me if you'd like the contact info. |
