|
|
Was watching a TV show on Q-channel - with 5 adjumas doing some cooking (trying to be professional cooks) in the kitchen of one of the adjumas..
anyway - after cooking rice (and before putting the "curry" they had just cooked onto the rice) - one of the adjumas pours baby oil - from a "Johnson baby oil" plastic bottle onto the rice
she then stirs it into the rice - and starts commenting on how good this "oil" is to use - because it mosturises the rice and leaves it shiny and soft..
then after putting the curry onto the "baby-oil" rice - the adjumas ate it..
is this common? - or do these ajumas not have a clue? |

Hey! I saw that show too!
It wasn't a comedy either - it was a serious girls-get-together cooking lesson..
maybe their supermarket sells baby oil in the same aisle as cooking oil. |

If any of those Adjumas pass to become "professionals" let me know what restaurant they're working for. So I can avoid it like a plague. |

I'd be more upset if they were dousing their babies in cooking oil. |

So, how do they get the oil out? Some kind of oil press disguised as a bassinet, or do they just beat them with sticks? |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_oil
Mineral oil with added fragrance is marketed as baby oil in the US, UK and Canada.
Mineral oil is taken orally as a lubricative laxative, and is often prescribed to ease the pain of bowel movements for those who suffer from hemorrhoids.
It is occasionally used in the food industry (particularly for candy). In this application, it is typically used for the glossy effect it produces, and to prevent the candy pieces from adhering to each other. It has been discouraged for use in children's foods, though it is still found in many candies
From Johnson's website:
http://www.johnsonsbaby.com/product.do?id=35
Safety
For external use only. Do not apply to irritated skin. If rash occurs, discontinue use. Keep out of children's reach to avoid drinking and accidental inhalation, which can cause serious injury. Should breathing problem occur, consult a doctor immediately.
If you want to contact the company and tell them about the cooking show you watched in Korea their reply would make for an interesting post.

You could even write a letter to a newspaper warning the readers about the health risks of watching that particular tv channel due to the quality of cooking show they produce. If you were in the USA you could sue the TV station for millions if you got sick. And Johnson's would/does have a legal case to sue them since all the people getting sick would tarnish the image of their company. |

No, no... as with whales, babies have to be rendered (cooked) in order to release the oil from the fat. |

According to Snopes baby oil can cause death. My brother works for a company that makes products like this. I emailed him. I'm curious if he's heard other stories.

Baby oil is not a palatable taste.
We used it for lube one time and after had to... well use your adult imagination- but basically we tasted it... Terrible, terrible
And yeah if you read the bottle it says not to be ingested.
I can't imagine adding it to food.... What are they thinking? |
