My wife called them awhile ago and was told I would need to put down a 2,000,000 won deposit because I'm a foreigner. If I wanted a card in her name it is the same deal - foreigners are worthless in this country. |

A friend of mine works in the U.S. making $90,000US a year as a programmer. He had to be at the same bank for two years AND prove that he had applied for his permanant work visa before they gave him a $500 credit card.
It's hardly a Korean exclusive to have banks not to overly trust non-residents. After all, if it was profitable for the companies then we would all get credit card apps from little stands at the airport when we arrived.
Same token, if I asked you to lend me a couple million Won without security, would you do it? |
