|
|
Has anyone ever taken this or other long haul route on Asiana? Right now it looks as if this is the cheapest option I have coming from Toronto. But I think this flight is non-stop which will be a long one, and I have only taken Asiana on short haul trips to Japan and Thailand.
How is Asiana for the long trips? Do they have on-demand video at every seat? Is the food ok? I can't imagine they could configure their seating for a tighter fit than Air Canada. Any praise or criticism would be welcome.
Thanks. |

Asiana uses 777's to Chicago. They are being retrofitted with personal video screens in each seat. Some have them. Many do not. The choice is not great even where they are fitted. On long haul Asiana flights I've found that the window shades will be closed and lights turned-off regardless, so it is quite subdued.
Yeah. Basically bibimbap or variations thereof. They will probably be a western choice.

Economy on Asiana is 3+3+3 seating if I recall. Seat pitch was nothing to write. |

| Thanks, I guess that explains why they're the cheapest of the bunch. |

| I flew the Chicago-Seoul route on Asiana and it wasn't too bad, other than it's much too long of a flight. The service was good and the food decent. I thought Korea Air was slightly better, but it's still better than most North American carriers. |

| Check out www.seatguru.com and find the best seats. I use that site every time I travel. It's great! |

I did the long haul once all the way to the Philippines from Chicago. Here is a secret. Get on their website, find a diagram of the plane model you will be flying, and write down the seat and isle number for the very last seat next to the window in the back of the plane. Book that seat. It is close to the bathroom, you have space behind your seat to stand and do bending exercises, and food comes fairly quickly. The only drawback is being the last person off the plane. As I recall, the last row only had double seating next to the window. |

flew Seattle-Incheon in December.
entertainment was fabulous. on demand and you get a personal screen. you can even play video games against other passengers with your remote controller.
food was.....okay. It's choosing between bibimbap and western. I went with bibimbap, but I think Korean Air's bibimbap is better.
everything else was standard for 777.
good luck. |

I've done that flight three times with Asiana
The ones I've flown on haven't had the personal screen, which sucks.
The flight is long, but I'd rather do it in one shot than do a few hour layover in Japan or the West Coast.
I like Asiana's food better than Korean Air.
The seats were about the same as Korean. |
